E. Judson Pickett: Senior partner and founder of Pickett-Sprouse Real Estate, Mr. Pickett was a lifelong resident of Durham and a graduate of Duke University. A North Carolina state licensed General Appraiser, Mr. Pickett was a MAI member of the Appraisal Institute and a past president of the North Carolina Chapter of the American Institute of Real Estate Appraisers (now the Appraisal Institute). In 1995 Mr. Pickett was named Realtor of The Year by the Durham Association of Realtors. In 2002 Mr. Pickett received the C.E. Phillips Jr. Wall of Fame Award, an award which recognizes and honors members who have given a lifetime of achievement and service to the Durham Association of Realtors.
Robert M. Sprouse: A graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, Mr. Sprouse began his real estate career in 1972. He is a North Carolina state licensed General Appraiser and a MAI member of the Appraisal Institute. Mr. Sprouse served as president of the Durham Association of Realtors in 1991 and as president of the North Carolina Chapter of the Appraisal Institute in 1994.
John T. Kepley: A North Carolina state licensed General Appraiser, Mr. Kepley began his real estate career in 1977. He has been affiliated with Pickett‑Sprouse Real Estate since 1981. A lifelong resident of Chapel Hill, Mr. Kepley attended the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. His primary area of concentration is commercial appraisals.
Vernon Averett: A native of Oxford, North Carolina, Mr. Averett is a graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He began his real estate career in 1970 and in 1989 he received the CCIM (Certified Commercial Investment Member) designation from the Commercial Investment Real Estate Institute of the National Association of Realtors. Mr. Averett helped found and was the first president of the Durham-Chapel Hill Commercial Listing Service in 1986. Affiliated with Pickett-Sprouse Real Estate since 1983, Mr. Averett concentrates his brokerage activities on the sale and leasing of land and commercial properties.
Jerry L. Gambill: A graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, Mr. Gambill is a North Carolina native who resides in Cary. He is a North Carolina state licensed General Appraiser and a MAI member of the Appraisal Institute. In addition to providing appraisals, Mr. Gambill is an active commercial broker with an emphasis in recent years on restaurants. He has also been active in commercial redevelopment and residential development. Mr. Gambill has been affiliated with Pickett-Sprouse Real Estate since 1984 and has been active in real estate since 1972.
Mark E. Micol: A native of Valdese, North Carolina and a graduate of Appalachian State University, Mr. Micol began his real estate career in 1983 in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. Affiliated with Pickett-Sprouse Real Estate since 1987, Mr. Micol is a North Carolina state licensed Residential Appraiser. In addition to appraisals, Mr. Micol is active in leasing and/or sale of office space and land brokerage.
Mark N. O'Neal: A native of Durham, Mr. O'Neal attended Wittenberg University and received an MBA degree from Wake Forest University. He received the CCIM (Certified Commercial Investment Member) designation from the Commercial Investment Real Estate Institute of the National Association of Realtors in 1991. Mr. O'Neal has served as president of the Durham-Chapel Hill Commercial Listing Service in 1992; president of the Triangle Commercial Real Estate Exchange in 1994; member of the Board of Directors for the Hillsborough Chamber of Commerce in 2007. He has been affiliated with Pickett-Sprouse Real Estate since 1992. Mr. O'Neal's primary concentration is on residential land development and brokerage. He also focuses on the Hillsborough/Orange County commercial and industrial market. In 2003 Mr. O’Neal was voted Business Person of The Year for 2002 by the Hillsborough Chamber of Commerce.
Brian D. Hill: A graduate of Appalachian State University in Boone, North Carolina, Mr. Hill received his Bachelor of Science Business Administration Degree in Real Estate and Urban Analysis in 1999. He began his career in real estate as a sales associate with emphasis on retail leasing and tenant representation. Mr. Hill joined Pickett-Sprouse Real Estate in 2000 with a concentration on the selling and leasing of commercial properties. Mr. Hill is a lifelong resident of Durham and a member of Triangle Commercial Association of Realtors. Mr. Hill is currently serving as chairman for Friendly North State Sertoma.
Gregory T. Payne: A native of Charleston, West Virginia, Mr. Payne graduated from Duke University and earned a Masters degree in Urban & Environmental Planning from the University of Virginia. Mr. Payne has 10 years experience, 6 in Durham and Orange Counties, as an economic development specialist and land use planner for local governments. A 15 year resident of the region, Mr. Payne has also worked as a real estate paralegal for area law firms. He has been affiliated with Pickett-Sprouse Real Estate since 2002 with concentration on commercial and investment properties, particularly in Durham, Hillsborough and Mebane.
Amy C. Sears: Mrs. Sears brings 12 years of commercial brokerage experience to the Pickett-Sprouse Real Estate team, with expertise in the leasing and sale of office and industrial properties along the I-40 corridor and Durham submarket. Mrs. Sears is a graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and has been a resident of Durham for 15 years. She is active in community affairs through involvement in The Junior League of Durham and Orange Counties and Duke Memorial United Methodist Church.
